I have always enjoyed traveling. That interest began as a child with a family vacation every summer visiting various parts of the US. Since that time, I’ve been in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico and many of the Caribbean Islands. But it was 2006 when my wife introduced me to travel in Europe. And in 2010, we started living overseas. First in Jamaica; then Saipan, which is a US territory in the western Pacific; and now Kosovo, one of the Balkan countries in southeastern Europe.
When we moved to Pristina, Kosovo in May 2016, I was fast approaching retirement age. It was my wife, Sharon, who said “Go and travel. Enjoy yourself”. And I’ve been doing exactly that. Since that time, I’ve been in 37 different countries. Check out the gallery which features a picture from each one of these countries.
While most of my career was spent in fundraising with non-profits in the United States, Jamaica and South Korea, I did teach while we were living in Saipan. One of my subjects was US History. While that was obviously focused on the US, there are parts of US history that intertwine with world history. My interest in history grew in those three years of teaching and now I get to experience History Thru Travel.
Most of my travel is solo traveling. My favorite travel partner, my wife Sharon, is able to join me at times which makes traveling even more enjoyable!
The calendar is full of future travels. I’m looking forward to it and hope you will enjoy following along as we learn more about History Thru Travel.
